Eye shadow palettes can be super intimidating for some people. For me, eye shadow is like an art. Finding the right eye shadow palette is key to a perfect look. I have been on the the hunt for the perfect eye shadow palette and I think I have found a few that are pretty freaking good. I judge my top 3 favorite eye shadow palettes based off a couple things. First, is the consistency of the product. I need an eye shadow that is creamy and applies with little fall out. I cannot stand when I go to apply my eye shadow and most of the product is on my upper cheek instead of my eye lid!
Second would have to be pigmentation. Doesn’t matter if the eye shadow is a matte color or one with some shine. If the eye shadow has no pigment where you have to apply multiple applications to get the look that you want, then it’s a waste of money. You will end up going through the palette before you get a lot of uses out of it.
Lastly the palette needs to give me options. I understand that there are some palettes the are geared toward just mattes and some geared toward shimmer shadows. But when I am traveling I do not want to bring multiple eye shadow pallets to achieve the look I want. I need a mixture of mattes and shimmers. I also need an option of colors. It doesn’t have to be a mixture of super bright colors and dark but a mixture of light colors to blend, slightly dark to put in the crease, maybe some shimmer for the lid and a dark color for the outside. Now with those in mind here are my current favorite eye shadow palettes that I have been using for a while!

My Current Favorite Eye Shadow Palettes
Jaclyn Hill’s Palette with Morphe Cosmetics: Oh my goodness! This palette has been my ride or die palette! I love how smooth and creamy all the eye shadows are. I mean even just swatching them on your arm you can see how nicely they apply. The color range in this palette is amazing. I have every color I could possibly need for any type of look I am going for. It even has the bright colors in it, like purple and teal! Also, just a little FYI, purple and teal, are really hard to make pigmented and creamy at the same time. So, props to Jaclyn for achieving that. There is a mixture of mattes and shimmers of different colors too. I love that the light white shimmers she added because I can use as a highlight as well. I love using it for those times when you want that standout eye shadow look. It’s perfect for music festivals and concert looks. A lot of people don’t like the size of the palette but for me the fact that it has all those colors, the size does not bother me at all. I mean it fits in my suitcase and even my purse so I’m good!
Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette: This palette is an oldie but a goodie. First of all I am obsessed with nude colors. I feel like nude colors and lighter pinks just look better on my skin tone. The colors in this palette are made for my type of skin tone. I like that the shimmer colors are more light pinks with a couple light browns. There are also a few dark browns with a slight shimmer to it. I love that the mattes are all nude colors. This makes for easy colors to blend with. I use this palette for my everyday makeup look. It’s reliable and beautiful all at the same time. Sometimes I’m just not in the mood for crazy eye shadow looks. When I am in that mood I grab this palette. It’s small and easy to travel with. I love throwing it into my purse and off I go.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette: I think that this eye shadow palette is like the first two palettes I mentioned above mixed into one. It has the best of both worlds. I also think that Urban Decay makes the best palettes for brown eyes along with almost every color eye. The palette contains both fun and modern colors. This palette is one that you can use both in the summer and fall. Anastasia made it easy to create an eye shadow look that’s either light and summery or dark with more of an autumn look. What I love most about this palette is the use of different shades of color. She uses a mix of orange and berry shades that are all versatile. They have so many different ranges of just those two colors that you can do so much with. I use this eye shadow palette all year round. I have created some of my favorite looks with it and I don’t think I will find one that I like more.
