Every year I make a list of realistic New Year’s resolutions that I stick with for about a week and then I go back to my old ways. This year I am making an effort to make realistic New Year’s resolutions that I actually stick with! My resolutions are normally things throughout the year that I have slacked on or things that I would like to change for the better. I never try to make resolutions that are impossible to achieve, because what’s the fun in that?
This year has been amazing! It was my first full year as a married woman to my wonderful husband. And thanks to my husband’s persistence and love, I got saved and found a true relationship with Jesus! I applied to grad school to become a pediatric acute/primary care nurse practitioner. I started my own person lifestyle blog! We traveled to places that we never thought we would make it to. There have been so many things that have happened this year where I have just felt so blessed.
My New Years resolutions that I am making this year I have really put thought into. I want these resolutions to help better myself and the people around me. There is a lot that is going to happen in 2019 and I can’t wait to be sitting here next year reminiscing on how these resolutions helped make 2019 unforgettable!
+BECOME MORE CLEAN & ORGANIZED. I don’t know about you but this one seems to be on my New Year’s resolution list every year. I would like to think that I am a clean and organized person, but I am just not. We currently live in a small apartment and, in theory, we should be super organized & keep things clean. If you saw our apartment right now, you would die… I know I am not the only one out there that needs to be more clean and organized, so go ahead & add this one to your list too! It’s for sure going to be a work in progress but maybe if we do it for so long it will become second nature. I guess we will just have to wait and see!
+BE ON TIME FOR ONCE. My husband is going to laugh once I tell him this one because he thinks it is physically impossible for me to be on time. In 2019 my goal is to prove him wrong…sometimes. I can’t promise that I will always be on time. That is why my New Year’s resolution says “be on time for ONCE”. If I am the only girl that is not ever on time then something is wrong with this world. For this reason if you are constantly late like me add this one to your list. Your husbands, boyfriends, significant others, or friends will thank me later.
+READ YOUR BIBLE EVERYDAY. I am so excited for this resolution because I know for a fact that it will better me and everyone else in the end. The Bible has so much to teach us all. I know that many people are intimidated by it but you shouldn’t be. There are many Bibles out there called teaching Bibles that help explain the passages so you can understand the readings better. There are also many websites that help too, be careful to find the right ones first (do your research before you start). I have made the decision in 2018 to have a relationship with Jesus and in 2019 I am going to better that relationship by reading the Bible and so should you!
+COOK MORE & EAT OUT LESS. So, I have never said that I am the perfect wife. I am not clean or organized and I suck at cooking. But in 2019 that is all going to change, at least I hope. My body feels so much better when I am not filling it with junk. Most of the junk I eat is from eating out at restaurants. I am gluten free and there is only so many things you can eat that doesn’t contain gluten at restaurants, like french fries. So, for my realistic New Year’s resolutions I am going to try and be a better wife by cooking more and eating out less. We may start out with strictly Crock Pot meals only but it’s a start.
+CREATE A BETTER WORKOUT SCHEDULE. Working out is always on every ones New Year’s resolutions but is one that people hardly ever stick with. For my 2019 realistic New Year’s resolutions I am going to create a schedule that makes it easy to work out. Personally, I think Orange Theory is a great way to achieve that because they hold you accountable for going to every class by charging you if you miss or cancel a class to late. You can also schedule your days far in advance so it gives you an idea of when you can work out. This is how I am going to force myself to work out more. No matter what you do try to stick with a work out schedule that is best for you. You won’t regret it I promise!
+TRAVEL MORE. I know when people read this one they are going to think that traveling is not realistic. But actually traveling can be very realistic. Traveling doesn’t mean that you have to go outside the country every time. Traveling means that you are going somewhere different than where you live, whether that’s 30 minutes away or hours away. For me, I want to see everything this world has to offer. I want to visit places I have never been before and see things that look better in person than in pictures. Each year, for our wedding anniversary, my husband and I save money to travel a big place. Last year it was Spain! I find that if you have the urge and the means to travel then it can be more realistic than you think!
+PUT MORE EFFORT INTO SOMETHING YOU ARE PASSIONATE ABOUT. This one is going to be different for everyone but it is a resolution that I think more people need to do. A lot of times we get so used to doing things for others that we forget about doing things for ourselves. This year I am putting more effort into the things that I am truly passionate about like this blog, getting into grad school, and photography. I think if we focus on these things we are all passionate about and put in just a little more effort, we will see things in our life flourish like we never thought possible!
Whatever your 2019 New Year’s resolutions are make them realistic and attainable. Don’t make your list too long or you will become overwhelmed. Each day make small strides for each one so when 2020 comes around you can look back on 2019 and check all those resolutions off your list. You will feel so much better about making new ones for the next year. I wish every one an amazing 2019 and hope you all achieve your new resolutions!
